Written by Roy Pollock and Andrew McK. Jefferson, The Six Disciplines of Breakthrough Learning: How to Turn Training and Development into Business Results is a must read for any corporate L&D staff who want to maximise the value of training and development. The six evidence-based principles have withstood the test of time.

I came across the 6Ds approach in my former corporate job. The approach centres around how to make corporate training effective and valuable by maximising “learning transfer” — real, tangible and measurable changes reflected in workplace practices; while minimising “learning scrap” — unapplied knowledge that goes into waste. I can immediately draw parallel between these principles and government and non-for-profit training. Adopt won’t be easy as support from the top is essential to the success of this approach.

Although the following prez was created for EF Corporate Solutions, it still has relevance today.
